Summary

This is Online track introduces Virtual Reality and Augmented reality in order to distinguish the difference between the two technologies. We will also discuss Instagram filters and how these arts are being formed and coded to look great as what we saw.

Participant will be introduced to SparkAR application from Facebook to create the filters.

The Instructions

Introduction ( Ice breaking )

At the beginning of this track we will introduce the participant to what we are going to do through these 5 days. Then we will start an Ice Breaking question to grab the participant attention and get them in the class subject.

1- We will start by introducing the track we are going to deliver through these 5 days, and then we will introduce them to what we are going to do through each day.

2- Then we will ask the participant an Ice Breaking question to grab their attention and get their involvement in the topic.

“Do you know what is meant by VR and what its being used for” (Ice breaking question)

3- Then we will listen to the participant and try to involve most of them in the discussion.

Mixed Reality

In this section we will introduce the participant to the Mixed reality technology by involving the participant how this technology is working and how it combines two different technology. Also, we will list some of the benefits this technology is delivering to some fields.

1- we will introduce them to the mixed reality technology, where we combine both the physical layer and the digital layer together, so the user will be able to interact with both of the layers.

2- Then we will list some of the benefits that this technology does deliver to some certain fields like the medical field and the industrial field as the main two fields using this technology in wide sections.

3- Then we will show the participant a video shows what is mixed reality and how to distinguish between the technologies.

 

Fashion tech

In this section we will try connecting between these technologies and the fashion to introduce the ways its being used to enhance the experience of the user in the field of fashion.

1 – We will start by asking the participant about their beliefs towards this technology and how they think it helped the realm of fashion.

2- then we will show the participant a quick video shows how mixed reality is being used in fashion.

Augmented Reality

In this section we will introduce the participant to other unreal reality which is the augmented reality and how it takes a part in the technology of mixed reality, also we will go through the benefits it does deliver to the fashion.

1 – We will start by defining the augmented reality technology and how this technology looks.

2- Then we will show the participant one of the AR applications involved in the realm of fashion.

AR Filters and practice

In this section we will introduce the AR filters to the participant and how these filters do look like, Also we will go through the Spark AR application how to download it and the uses of this application.

1 – We will start by introducing the participant to the AR filters and how these filters are being used and introduce them to how these filters are very widely used.

2- Then we will introduce the participant to Spark AR application from Facebook and show them how to download the application.

3- Then we will show the participant a video for a light effect artist uses the application to show her art.

4- Then we will show the participant how to download the application step-by-step.

–         At the beginning we need to go to https://sparkar.facebook.com/ar-studio/

–         Then we need to go to the download page.

–         Finally, we need to press download to start the downloading of the installer.

5- Then we need to install the application on the PC, so we follow the following steps:

–         We will open the installer we downloaded.

–         Then we need to click next, and then we have to accept the terms.

–         Then it will ask if you have IOS you have to download iTunes.

–         Then we will just follow the process till the application finish the installation process.

–         Then the application will ask to sign in using your Facebook account or Instagram account.

–         Then the application will open.

Day 2 (Introduction)

We will sate what we have done in the previous day and recap the important Information we need the participant to remember. Then we will give a quick overview about what we are going to do in this day.

1 – At the begging we will ask the participant to briefly describe the mixed reality technology and the augmented reality technology.

2 – Then we will describe what is the link between AR filters and both technology as we stated in the previous day.

3 – We will also ask about the Spark AR application Whether they have it installed or not.

(Here many kids will face problems especially if their computers do not meet the requirements.) 

4- We will ask the participant the ice breaking question for the day.

5- Most of the participant will not get it 100% right as they are not fully aware about the name and its shortcuts. 

Artificial Intelligent

Here we will introduce the AI to the participant and try to link it with the fashion, to show the participant the realm based on this technology and how to take advantage from it.

1 – We will start by describing the AI for the participant in brief as “Artificial Intelligent is the way of how to make the machine smart”

2 – Then we will show the participant a video describing the AI.

3 – Then we will ask the participant about how they think the future will look like in the future.

4 – We will ask them also about the benefits fashion has taken from the AI.

5- We will show the participant a video of Augmented reality and how it uses the AI in the fashion field.

AI Application

In this section we will show the participant some application uses the artificial intelligent technology to know the uses of these applications in different life sides.

1 – We will start by asking the participant about if they have used or seen these technologies before.

2 – Then we will start by staging the first application for AI which is face recognition, which aims toward detecting the face and then recognize the special characters of each face.

3 – Then we will present a video for the participant that describe this technology.

4 – Then we will stage what is meant by head tracking to know how its being used and how it works.

5- Then we will describe what is the face mesh; which is a 3D model where it combined with the face tracker to create a surface that we can reconstruct.

 

Practice

In this section we will be delivering the instruction of to build a light mask can be added to the face Using Spark-AR application.

1- We will start by opening Spark-AR and create the project.

2- Then we will create a face mesh by adding it from the menu.

3- Then we will add material to this face mesh.

 

4- Then we will rename the material, and we will change it shader type to “Retouching”; using this we can smooth the skin tone or sharpen it.

5- Then we will create another face mesh, and we will add a physical shader type material to this model, and we will add a texture to it.

 

 

 

6- Then we will add the light sources to give the light effect to the face mask.

 

7- We already created 2 light sources one on the left and the other on the right side.

8- Then we need to add animation by moving the lights, so we can combine both using the patch editor.

9- then we will enable the patch editor from view panel.

 

10 – Now using the patch editor we will be able to code the light source to move to create the animation needed.

 

11- We will add the loop animation box to the patch editor then we will add the transition box for both the right source and left source.

12- Then we will add the rotation box for both the right and left light sources to attach them to the transition animation code.

 

13- Then we will change the colour for both lights.

 

14- we need to remember that the transition box will need 3 inputs regarding the transition needed from the user the (X- axis), (Y- axis), (Z- axis).

 

15- The final result.

Day 3 ( Virtual Reality )

In this day we will deliver the knowledge associated with VR in order to distinguish the difference between the unreal technologies (AR, VR, MR).

1- We will start this day presentation by Ice breaking question.

 

  • We will try briefly to recap what we already deliver about AR, and Mixed reality as both of these technologies do use the physical layer in order to deliver the needed experience to the user.
  • The main difference is that the mixed reality do use a digital layer to deliver the experience to the user.

2- We will stage what is meant by VR which is virtual reality.

  • It’s a technology based on the use of digital layers to create a fully immersing environment can be accessed through VR headsets.

  • In VR the physical layer is deleted or neglected, so the user will be fully immersed in the new environment.

 

3- Then we will show the participant some real uses for this technology.

4- Then we will generally compare between the 3 technologies.

7- Then we will show a Virtual fashion show through VR.

8- Then we will ask the participant a question about which technology wills dominant in the future.

 

Practice

In this section we will show the participant how to use the head tracking and how to add assets to the projects.

1- Firstly we will deliver the knowledge of 3D objects.

2- Then we will show the difference between the 2D objects and the 3D objects.

3- Then we will start a new project.

2- Then we will add the face tracker, and we will add a 3D object to the face tracker.

3- The 3D object is going to be the headOccluder which is found in the assist “Default assists”

4- Then we will re-scale the size of the headOccluder to match the head size.

5- Then after that we can play with the opacity so the headOccluder object won’t be shown when we attach assets to the scene, and also we need to change the blend mode to Alpha instead of Replace.

6- After making sure that it do fits the head you can reduce the opacity to zero.

7- Then we can start adding assets from the assets store.

 

 

8- From the assets store we can choose the needed object, lets pick a hat and glasses.

 

 

9- Then after adding the objects to the scene and re-scale it to fit the head and the face.

10- We can also repeat the instruction of the previous day to animate the face.

 

Day 4 ( Special Effect )

In this day we will deliver the knowledge behind making movies, what is meant by special effects and visual effects. We will also cover the Animation topic and how it works.

1- We will start as usual with an ICE-Breaking question to grab the participant attention.

  • The Idea here is to let the participant to recap what we already mentioned and discussed in the previous days.
  • Most of the participant will give a fine explanation about all the technologies and how to distinguish between.

2- Then we will discuss the main topic of today session which is the special effects and the visual effects.
