Janice Williams

Janice M. Williams is the Senior Vice President of Program Development of the YMCA of Metropolitan Washington.  Dedicated to helping others, she have over 40 years of extensive youth development and innovative program design experience at both the local and national level.  She serves as a senior advisor with the national YMCA of the USA Achievement Gap and STEM Initiatives; faculty STEM educator and serves on numerous informal science committees and projects that promote diversity, inclusion, and equity in STEM to include SciGirls, HERO education, Girls Who Code and other programs that promote girls in STEM.   Ms. Williams has a particular interest in the Invention Education and Maker Ed field. Creator of the annual YMCA THINGAMAJIG® Invention Convention, Ms. Williams encourages children ages 5-14 to use creative thought, engineering process and imagination to formulate their vision in a design competition that has now grown from one geographic region drawing 5,000 young people to the competition to now serving over 50,000 youth across the country.  It is Ms. Williams’ belief that children are truly our future and need the tools today to build their future tomorrow.
