On-site work shop that aims to share tourist places in Qatar and how technology could interfere to share the ways of advertising, In addition to how this would make the tourist experience rich and easier.
4 day workshop –>
1- Tourism
2- Flex Electronics
3- Wearable technology
4- IOT
In this work shop we will need
1- Arduino
2- Login computer
3- NFC Kit
4- Soldering station
5- Presentation
In this day we will be introducing the participant to the tourism and the tourist places that can be visited in Qatar, We will also introduce the participant to technology and how technology been involved in tourism, in addition to the benefits been added to the tourism realm by technology and how it made the experience much richer, In order to introduce participant to NFC Technology and its application.
1- We will start by introducing the tourist places in Qatar.
This video shows most of the places that are being promoted for tourism, among the others in Qatar.
2- Then we will talk about tourism in general.
3- Then we will introduce the whole program to the participant.
4- Then we will ask the participant about technology.
5- The following video will show the technology to interfere with tourism over the following years and how it will change the experience of the tourist.
6- Then let’s take the participant ideas about the impact of the technology.
7- Then lets explain one of the most used technologies these days when it’s used to pay worldwide using the phone like Apple Pay.
8- This technology works over very low range as the transmitter and the receiver has to be very close, almost 1 to 2 cm of distance between in order to send and receive the data.
9- some application used over this technology.
10- How do you think this technology is an added advantage for the tourism realm.
11- What we will be doing today –>
12- What we will need today.
13- What is the NFC tag ion general.
14 – Now we will be using the smartphone with an application of NFC installed to read and write tags.
Participant are going to be introduced to flex electronics in order to get to know the basics of this technology and its applications in order to build a circuit using Arduino microcontroller for NFC reader.
1- We will start by asking the participant about what they know about electronics.
2- Then we will ask them the difference between electric and electronic.
3- The main particle here to study is the electron and its movement, as the electrical current is the flow of this electron from particle to another and so on.
4- Then we will explain the difference between the electron current and the conventional current.
5- Then we will show how this electron is being controlled.
6- The video below will explain the electrical current.
7- Then we will ask the participant if they know the flex circuits.
8- What would be the advantage of flex circuit.
9- Flexible circuits are normal circuits, but they are made up of flex material that can bend and stretch according to the needed application.
10- Some of the uses for the flex circuits.
11- The below video will show a real application for flex sensor under research.
In this day we will be assembling the NFC reader and build a circuit with the Arduino to write and read NFC tags.
1- We will start showing the participant what we are going to do.
2- Then we will show the participant what is needed to build the prototype.
3- This is the connection we have to achieve with the Arduino to have the circuit working.
4- Before the connection of the circuit, we have to solder the NFC module.
5- Then we will start coding the Arduino microcontroller using the Arduino IDE.
6- Coding or programming is the process of telling the machine what to do through writing instructions line the machine can understand.
7- We will use the mfrc522 library in order top send and receive data from the module.
8- We will go through loops in order to let them understand the irritation process happens each time the tag is approaching the reader.
9- Then we will go through the if statement and what is the importance of having them in the code.
Participant are going to be introduced to the technology of wearables in order to know its classifications and it uses in real life in order to build a circuit using the Adafruit circuit playground microcontroller that control the LED using a flex sensor.
1- What is the technology of Wearable technology.
2- Wearables are classified into several types according to how it’s being worn.
3- Then we will show a video that will explain wearables
4- Wearables are widely used these days, most of us have at least one wearable device.
5- Most of the fields have gained the maximum from the wearable technology, but for sure there is the field which mostly gained from.
In this day participant are going to code the Adafruit microcontroller while there are flex sensor connected to it.
1- We will show the participant what we will build today and how to connect it.
2- Then we will briefly explain what is microcontroller.
3- We will discuss what is the force sensor and how the sensor works.
4- Then we will go through the LED and how it works.
5- Then we will start coding the microcontroller using the Make-Code Adafruit from Microsoft.
In this day we will introduce the participant to the IOT technology and its advantages, in order to know how it works and to build a device able to fetch sensor data to the cloud.
1- IOT is not spread from too long it’s a concept wanted to happen from 1950, but it did not show very clear to users until the 21st century.
2- This works when sensors are gathering data and pushing it to the network and a user can access the network from a different location to read the sensor data.
3- The advantage of such systems are not going to meet an end as long as its application are in every realm.
4- The below video will describe the concept of IOT.
5- Then we will ask the participant about what would make this technology true.
6- Sensors works when a real physical quantity stimulate the sensor then the sensor will change the physical stimulation to electrical signal.
7- Sensors have types according to the need of power to work as active sensor need power to work but passive works when ever there is a physical quantity to stimulate the sensor.
8- One of the application on the IOT system.
9- We will build an IOT system using an ESP 32 microcontroller to collect data through sensor and respond from the Online platform.
10- ESP 32 is a microcontroller integrated with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
11- The circuit we will assemble is too simple; we will connect the ESP32 with the Arduino in order to send the data from the Arduino to ESP32 in order to use the Wi-Fi module.
12- Then using the ESP32 we will connect to an online platform called Thinger.io to monitor and respond to the data.
