Summary

In this series, participants are going to learn about the concept of Virtual Reality and 3D design by developing a 3D environment with multiple scenes using the Co-spaces software. They will design the 3D environment, add a 360-degree scene and a video break. The theme used will be inspired by the long standing Islamic heritage of the horse-riding sport.

The Instructions

Day 1: Design the horses' field

Participants will be introduced to the basics of the Game design and development and use Co-spaces platform to develop a virtual experience of a Horses racing field, adding the audience, horses, candy machine, and more objects.

Presentation:

1- Who are we and what we do in Studio 56.

2- Intro to Microsoft Teams interface.

3- Introduce the client letter.

4- What is Equestrianism?

5- What is Islam?

6- Brainstorming: which Surah in Quran talked about horses?

7- Video about Surat al Adyat.

8- Islam and horses.

9- The meaning of Virtual Reality.

10- Video about the difference between VR, AR, and MR.

11- VR examples.

12- Video about Co-spaces software.

13- Introduction to Co-spaces user-interface.

14- What we will be doing today.

 

Prototype:

1- Introduction to the user-interface of the Co-spaces platform.

•3D space navigation: How to move around the 3D environment using the mouse and keyboard.

•How to add objects from the library: Select Library > select the category > drag and drop objects to the 3D environment.

 

2- Select an environment from the built-in environments.

•Select Environment > click on “Edit” > select the appropriate environment.

 

3- Add the horse-racing field.

•Add a ring object:

•Select the character > right click > Speech > write in the speech box.

•Change the texture of the ring object.

 

4- Add horses to the field.

•Add around 6 horses from the Library to the 3D environment.

•Customize the horses by adding number tags to each one:

• Go to Library > Building category > Drag and drop Text component > edit the speech box inside.

•Attach the text component to the horse:

• Right click on the text box > select Attach > look for the blue dot on the horse’s back > click on the blue dot to attach the text box to the horse’s back.

5- Add different characters as the audience.

•Customize the looks of the characters:

•Select the character > right click > Material > select the different colors (ex: top, pants).

 

6- Design the environment around the field.

•Add different trees from the Library.

•Add large TV to stream the race:

•Go to Upload tap > 3D models > Upload > upload 3D model of TV.

•Add a protected bubble in the middle of the field (the ring), for families and elderly:

•Go to Library > Building category > drag and drop the transparent half-sphere.

 

7- Fix any issues found.
