Summary

i. Could you propose one or two ideas on how you can use in your classes:

1. Digital fabrication with kids using the laser cutter

  • Ask the students to do a boardgame that handles the concept of Information Systems. They have to lasercut a specific information system of a known organization. Then in class we can mix and match and discuss about those results.

2. Digital fabrication for kids using the laser cutter

  • Using the laser cutter for making the arrays explanation of computer science.

When you prepare a lesson activity what are the things

that you take into consideration?

Time allocated, how is it tied to the syllabus and the other important places of the school system (CAS, TOK). How is it going to be assesed.

What are the critical aspects?

Almost all of them but specially how to fit the lesson in the calendar.

What additional aspects do you need to take into consideration if you utilize digital fabrication processes?

I need more time either to design the pieces in the case of digital fabrication for students and even more time for giving them the tools so they can fab anything themselves.
