Summary

On-site workshop aims to discuss the ways of creating ideas using conductive paint and the use of capacitive touch technology, Also, revealing ways of building circuits using conductive paints.

What You'll Need

Participant will need :

1- bare conductive touch board

2- Login computer.

3- Speaker.

4- Canvas.

5- Conductive Paint.

6- Brushes.

7- Vinyl cut stencil.

8- Presentation

The Instructions

Smart Material

Ice breaking question followed by explanation for the smart material and its types.

1- The workshop goes around the smart material and its types, in order to know the ways of using the material and the difference between one and another.

2- We will light up participant minds through asking them about programming a material.

3- Smart material are materials been manipulated in a way that meets the needed specification, but this won’t happen without knowing the physical properties of the material.

4- The video will simply describe and explain smart material and how it works.

5- Smart material has different types, depends on the way of making it and also of how it’s responding.

6- The types also depends on the physical property of the material itself as what can make the change in the material.

7- How could we use smart material in life?

What we will do

We will be describing the prototype we are going to build and the needed material, in addition to clarifying the process of building the prototype and how to code it.

1- The participant are going to paint piano keys on their own.

2- The keys should have the participant touch (Shape, connection, and also the place of the microcontroller.

3- The participant will use the canvas to paint the keys also they have to make sure they understand the needed dimension for the keys and the connection wires.

4- Conductive Ink is a material uses carbon particles or silver where they are linked by a solvent agent

5- Where do you think conductive INK is used?

6- Video that shows how conductive paint is used.

7- Rigid circuits are the normal PCB that make the connection for the component, sometimes it’s needed to have the connection flexible in order to achieve some of the functions the device has to be able to do.

8- Bare conductive microcontroller are considered rigid PCB, but the use of the conductive painting gives the ability for the project to be flex.

9- The bare conductive microcontroller are ready built with a capacity touch function and processor.

10- What function you’d like to have using this function?

Practice

As the participant has all the needed explanation about the component they are using, it's time to start doing the keyboard painting and the coding.
