Summary

In this Workshop students will learn how to make Water Dispenser to avoid water wastage.

Learning objectives are

–     To motivate students for group discussion

–     To think on water scarcity problems

–     Learn 2D Design, Laser cutting & Basic Electronics.

 

The Instructions

Motivate students to discuss water scarcity problem in India.

Ask them to put major reasons for drought. Discuss Environmental, man-made factors involved in water wastage.

Let student think of design to avoid water wastage.

Students will come up with different ideas.

 

 

Water Dispenser is one of the Ideas.

Now, Let discuss with students how they can make water dispenser.

Make design which use for making Water Dispenser.

Discuss with student how much they know Switches, how it work, what is water pumping motor. And introduce them to software which is used for Laser Cutter Machine.

Introduce them with 2D Inkscape Design Software.

Cut that Design parts in Laser Cutter.

Introduce them to Laser Machine software (Benbox) for cutting design parts.

 

Fix respective electronic components at their respective place.

Check that students fix Electronic component properly with their respective place or not. 

Make connection of Water pumping motor, Switch & Adapter.

+ve of water pumping motor connect to –ve of switch. - +ve of switch connect to +ve of adapter. - -ve of adapter connect to –ve of motor. Water pumping motor Switch Adapter +ve -ve - -ve - -ve - +ve +ve

Help students for using soldering gun to make connections.

See students make connection properly or not.

Make final assembly of Water Dispenser.

Now Water Dispenser is ready.

Let student play with it.

  • (Fab-Safety.1): I can safely conduct myself in a Fab Lab and observe operations under instructor guidance.
  • (Fab-Electronics.1): I can follow instructions to build a simple electrical circuit using conductive material, basic components, and power.
  • (Fab-Modeling.1): I can arrange and manipulate simple geometric elements, 2D shapes, and 3D solids using a variety of technologies.
  • (Fab-Fabrication.1): I can follow instructor guided steps that link a software to a machine to produce a simple physical artifact.
  • (Fab-Design.1): I can be responsible for various activities throughout a design process within a group under instructor guidance.
