Summary

For 4 days, participants will explore 3D scanning tools and learn about 3d modeling to customize the World cup Soccer ball. ​They will also explore mixed reality technology and be immersive inside it to play sports competitions.

The Instructions

Day 1:

Participants are going to be introduced to the concept of 3D scanning and how can 3D scanning be beneficial for sports and the world cup specifically.

Presentation:

1- Who are we and what we do in Studio 56.

2- Which zone we will be in today.

4- Explain the program of the week.

5- open question: What is your favorite sport and why do you love it

6- Talk about the FIFA world cup 2022.

7- Open Question: What is 3D scanning?

8- Explain 3D scanning and what is it used for.

9- Show a video illustrating 3D scanning.

Discuss about the video.

10- Explain the types of 3D scanners.

11- Explain what are we going to use today

 

3D Scanning:

1.Explain the different parts of the Eins 3D scanner.

2.Start the process of calibrating the Eins 3D scanner.

3.Start the first scan of the world cup soccer ball.

4.Start he second scan of the world cup soccer ball.

5.Explain the process of Aligning the two scans together to cover up the empty spaces.

6.Explain the process of global optimization.

7.Explain the process of mesh modeling and it’s features.

8. Save the model as an object file.

9. Show the result of 3D scanning the world cup soccer ball.

10. Start scanning student using Sense 3D scanner.

11. Show the results of scanning each student.

12. 1.Question and problem solving.

Day 2:

Participants are going to be introduced to the concept of 3D Modeling and how does 3D modeling benefit the sports sector.

Presentation:

1.Overview of what was done in day 1.

2.Explain what is customization.

3.Show a video that has the whole process of 3D scanning and 3D Designing.

4.Explain the different types of 3D modeling software and their uses.

5.Explain what is meant by 3D design.

6.What are we going to use?

 

Tinkercad:

1.Introduce Tinkercad to the students and show the features of Tinkercad.

2.Explain how to interact with objects, change their colors, moving them, group objects.

3.Show the students how to import the soccer ball.

4.Show students how to add letters to the workplane.

5.Challenge the students into creating the best-looking soccer ball.

6.Question and problem solving.

  

Day 3:

Participants are going to be introduced to the concept of VR and how VR can be beneficial to sports in various ways, participants are going to create their own fantasy stadium.

Presentation:

1- Who are we and what we do in Studio 56.

2- Which zone we will be in today.

3- Introduce the Client letter of the workshop.

4- Explain the program of the week.

5- Open Question: What is VR?

6- Explain VR and what is it used for.

7- Show a video showing the usage of VR in creating new sports that do not exist in real life.

Discuss about the video.

8- Show a video showing the usage of VR in the current existing sports.

Discuss about the video.

9- Explain the different terms that are used in VR and Game Dev.

10- What are we going to use.

 

Cospaces:

1.Introduce participants to Cospaces platform.

2.Create accounts for participants.

3.Explain the main features and the interface of Cospaces.

4.Show participants how to import the world cup soccer ball.

5.Show participants how to use objects that are already in Cospaces.

6.Show participants how to move objects, resize them and rotate them.

7.Show participants how to change object colors and customize them.

8. Show participant how to create the lines of a soccer field.

9. Challenge the participants to create the rest of the lines of the soccer field.

10.Question and problem solving.

Day 4:

Participants are going to finish creating their fantasy stadium and view it in VR.

Presentation:

1.Overview of what was done in day 3.

2.What are we going to do?

 

Cospaces:

1.Finish creating the lines of the soccer field.

2.Teach participants how to add avatars and customize their cosmetics.

3.Each participant will create their avatar.

4.Challenge participant to create the two teams that are going to be on the soccer field.

5.Challenge participant to create the goals of the soccer field.

6.Challenge participants to create the design of the stadium itself.

7.Testing using VR Google cardboard.
