IN THIS COLLECTION

A number of us have been forced to shelter in place during the COVID-19 pandemic and make use of our time in more creative ways. During this holiday season we encourage you to enjoy the magic of this film, and then make your own with the hands-on activities in this special collection.

Children and adults alike can create their own inventions with supplies and materials from around the house. With a little time and some creative direction from these amazing makers, everyone can join the cast from this film as a maker of possibilities.

FEATURED MAKERS

Oyedotun “Oye” Ajewole considers himself a project designer. He studied mechanical engineering and currently applies the principles of engineering to the things he likes. Currently, he works in digital fabrication, textiles, and fabric science, and electronics.


Andrea Fields has been making and teaching in fab labs and other innovation spaces since she was 15 years old. She has a master’s degree in civil engineering and currently manages an early childhood fab lab and her own consultancy. She is a sought after speaker and spokesperson for minority women in STEM. Her speaking engagements have included the Ohio State Senate,TEDxCLE, and U.S. News and World Report.

Dr. Nettrice Gaskins is an author, maker, and educator. She earned a BFA in Computer Graphics with Honors from Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, New York in 1992 and an MFA in Art and Technology from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Chicago, Illinois in 1994. She worked for several years in K-12 and post-secondary education, community media, and technology before enrolling at Georgia Tech where she received a doctorate in Digital Media in 2014.
